of the numbers of teeth on mating gears. Ordinarily the ratio is found
by dividing the number of teeth on the larger gear by the number of
teeth on the smaller gear or pinion. For example, if the ratio is
2 or “2 to 1”, this usually means that the smaller gear or pinion
makes two revolutions to one revolution of the larger mating gear.
